From Katrina to Irene

Times Square

So, I get to NY safely and was scheduled to move into my apartment on Sunday, August 28.  If you have been paying any attention to the weather on the east coast, all activity has ceased due to Hurricane Irene. It started as a Category 3 but as it is moving up the east coast, it is turning into a Category 1.  The temperatures are cooler up north, which lessen the strength of the hurricane.  Because this is one of the most popular seasons for tourists in New York, most of the New Yorkers are confused about this situation.  They've never seen anything close down in this city.  They haven't had any natural disasters this serious in 40 years.  How fitting when I am scheduled to move, I bring a hurricane with me.  My freshman year at JSU, I was getting ready for my first game as a Prancing J-Sette, and Hurricane Katrina made her debut.  We still traveled to the first game, and the show still went on.  So even with Irene on her way, I'm all smiles, just waiting for her to leave!

My Quest to Become....

What do you want to be when you grow up? Nearly 6 years after graduating from high school, I have finally figured out my answer to that age old question.  I began researching schools and avenues to help make my dream a reality.  I found a great program at NYU (New York University), and with much preparation and prayer I will continue my quest to become the best dance teacher I can be.  You're probably wondering why I'm going so far away, and the reason is because NYU is one of the only schools that offer a Masters Degree in Dance Education.  This blog is my way of keeping in touch with my family and close friends that I may not talk to on a daily basis, just to keep y'all updated on my adventure with my big move to the Big Apple and let you know that I'm still breathing.!  As we get closer to the fall, I will start to update you more often.  I've heard that such a move from the Hospitality State to the Empire State can be lonely and very discouraging, nonetheless I'm still going! With that said, please continue to pray for me and my endeavors and I'll update you soon!  Also If you know anyone or have any family or friends in New York, please let me know.  I am developing my contact list as I'm SURE I will have PLENTY of questions!  Love you all!
